Thomas P Mooney, Licensed Director
Thomas P. Mooney was raised in Rensselaer, NY and graduated from St. John’s Academy. He attended Hudson Valley Community College and graduated from Simmons School of Embalming and Mortuary Science in 1973. Tom served his internship at the John G. Betz Funeral Home in Amsterdam, NY. He purchased The LeClair Chapel in Nassau in 1976. The LeClair Chapel eventually became The Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, LLC. Tom is married to Kathleen Walsh Mooney. They have one son, Terence P. Mooney. Tom has lived in Nassau since 1976. He is a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Nassau, a member of The Nassau Sportsman’s Club, Knights of Columbus Council 10990 of Averill Park, Capital District Funeral Director’s Association, NYS Funeral Director’s Association, National Funeral Director’s Association and life member of Nassau Hose Co.#1.


Terence P Mooney, Licensed Director
Terence P. Mooney was raised in Nassau, NY. Terry is a product of The East Greenbush Central School District, beginning his education at The Donald P. Sutherland School in Nassau and graduating from Columbia High School. Terry graduated from Hudson Valley Community College with an Associate Degree in Mortuary Science. He served a yearlong residency at The Daniel Keenan Funeral Home Inc. in Albany and received his funeral director’s license in 2008. Terry has joined his father in funeral service at The Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, LLC.

David J. Carpentier, Licensed Funeral Director

David J. Carpentier is a lifelong resident of Averill Park and the eldest of 5 siblings. He is married to Tamie Smith Carpentier and has a married daughter Megan, a son- in -law Nick and two granddaughters Natalie and Nora.

He was educated in the Averill Park school system. Upon graduation he entered Hudson Valley Community College earning an A.O.S. degree in automotive mechanics. He practiced that trade for many years. David entered Hudson Valley CC again in 1996 enrolling in the Mortuary Science program, earning an A.A.S. degree with honors. He was also a Phi Theta Kappa member. David has been licensed since 1998.

David is a past member and officer of the Averill Park Sand Lake Fire Dept., past mortuary officer for the Federal Disaster Mortuary Operations Team (DMORT) working the World Trade Center Disaster, Hurricane Katrina and Rita, flight 3407 crash in Clarence NY, and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, a current member of the Albany Yacht Club serving in several officer/board/committee positions, Hendrick Hudson Fish and Game Corp., Hilltown Riders ATV Club., and the NYS Funeral Directors Association.

Kean W. Toomey, Registered Resident

Born in Albany, to Paul and Lisa (Cioffi) Toomey, Kean has been a lifelong resident of Averill Park, NY. He has two older sisters Faith (Joshua) Skibbee and Maeve Toomey. He is a graduate of La Salle Institute in Troy, NY. Kean also graduated from Hudson Valley Community College in 2023, with an A.A.S in Mortuary Science. While in college, Kean worked for many local funeral homes to apply the classroom principles to the daily application in the funeral home. Kean came to the funeral home, in a full-time capacity, beginning in January of 2023. Following the passing of his grandfather, Kean had a call to funeral service starting at a young age. Kean comes from a multi-generational family of funeral directors. He has been a life-long parishioner of St. Henry’s Parish, in Averill Park. He is also a member of the La Salle Institute Alumni Association, where he is the Class of 2019 Class Representative. Kean is also a member of the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials (IAABO) Board #36, where he enjoys teaching the new officials training classes. Outside of the funeral home, Kean enjoys playing golf, boating, and spending time with family and friends.
