Dorothy M. Drowne Old Chatham Dorothy M. Drowne, 89, of Old Chatham, passed away Friday, January 7th, in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Malden Bridge on April 19, 1921 she was the daughter of the late Ira and Margaret Stever. Dorothy worked for 30 years for the State of NY, first with the Dept. of Civil Service and then for the Workers Compensation Board before retiring in 1983. She was a member of the former Wesley United Methodist Church and always helped with their dinners. Dorothy loved her family dearly. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and word finds. She was an avid reader. She was predeceased by her son, Richard Drowne and two sisters, Sally Groves and Madeline Brothers. She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl (Thomas) Lewis of Old Chatham, a brother, Ira Stever of Valatie, 5 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral service from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau, Tuesday, January 11 at 12:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM prior to the service. Interment in North Chatham Cemetery. Donations in Dorothy's memory can be made to a charity of one's choice. The family would like to thank the staff of 5 McCauley at St. Peter's Hospital for the kind and considerate care extended to Dorothy, also to St. Peter's Hospice Inn for their loving care while Dorothy was with them.
