Obituary of Elizabeth A. Borey

Borey, Elizabeth Ann (Betty), of Nassau , passed away on January 19th. Beloved wife of the late Edward Borey, loving daughter of the late William and Rose McEnroe. Caring sister to Robert McEnroe of El Paso, Texas and the late Bill and Ann McEnroe, Rosemary Harlan and Jean Breedlove. Adored mother to Chris and Becky Borey of Nassau, Edward and Susan Borey of Mukilteo, Washington and Anne Geier of Dedham Ma., Betty is also survived by seven grandchildren, Christian, Raquel, Christopher and Edward Borey, Stephanie Warmus, Cathy Trotta and Jennifer Martinez. She also leaves seven great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A resident of Nassau for 68 years, Betty was born and raised in Albany, where she graduated from Vincentian Institute in 1943. She worked for New York state until her children were born and then again when they were grown until her retirement. She loved people, conversation and being alive. She doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and considered them the greatest treasures of her life. She was a very kind person and a born peacemaker. She loved singing in the choir at St. Mary's Church in Nassau, where she was also a lector. Betty has also been a lifelong member of the Democratic Party and could often be found working at the polls. Betty was dearly loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. Funeral service from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau on Friday at 9:15AM and from St. Mary's Church in Nassau at 10:00AM where a Funeral Mass will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5-7PM. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Glenmont.
