Pratt, Joanne Mellen "JoJo" SAN JOSE, C.R. Joanne Mellen Pratt, "JoJo," passed away on Tuesday February 6, 2018, in San Jose, Costa Rica after a short illness with her loving husband, Bill, by her side. She is survived by her husband Bill Pratt; two stepsons, Jonathan Pratt (Caitlyn) and one grandson Henry of Wynantskill, and Christopher Pratt of West Sand Lake; two sisters-in-law, Lisa (Joe) Mieczkowski of Taborton, N.Y. and Lori Vermilyea of Clifton Park. Born in Albany on January 2, 1961, Joanne was the beloved daughter of John J. Mellen Sr. (deceased) and Dorothy J. Mellen of Rensselaer. She is also survived by one sister, Linda Baker (Lenny) of Nassau; and two nieces, Cyndi Mellen of Washington, D.C. and Mandy Dugan of Nassau, both to whom she was also godmother. She was also predeceased by two brothers, John J. Mellen Jr. and David E. Mellen, both of Rensselaer. She is also survived by several nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Joanne formerly lived in Averill Park before retiring and achieving her dream of moving to Ojochal, Puntarenas, Costa Rica. She retired from the State of New York with 34 years of service in 2016. The last twenty-seven years, she worked full-time for the N.Y.S. Office of the State Comptroller, as a computer programmer and last twenty-plus years, she also worked as a part-time toll collector for the N.Y.S. Thruway Authority. A memorial service is planned for Sunday, April 8, in the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, Nassau. Calling hours are from 1-4 p.m. with a short funeral service at 4 p.m. All family and friends are invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Capital Region Miracle League in Joanne's memory.
