Chet Blonkowski Jr. also known as Chester John Blonkowski Jr. peacefully left this world on September 29, 2022, at the age of 71 in East Nassau, NY. Chet, as he preferred to be called, was born on September 12, 1951, in Amsterdam, New York. Like many artistic souls was singularly creative and lived life on his own beliefs.


Chet's love for music was a defining aspect of his life. Chet attended Wilbur H. Lynch High School, where he nurtured his artistic talents and began his musical journey.During his high school years, he showcased his talent as a bass and tuba player in the school band. His musical abilities garnered him a music scholarship offer to the University of Alabama. Chet's passion for music led him to form two rock bands, the first being "Little Chester's Band," where he played the guitar, and later his band, "The Undertakers." He later joined the band “Mickey” where he played at local nightclubs and weddings during the 1970 ‘s and 80’s.

In addition to his musical pursuits, he enjoyed cooking , fishing and his cherished pets.

Chet retired from Hannaford Supermarket in Latham, NY where he was seafood manager.


Chet was a loving husband to his wife, Mary. He is also survived by his stepson, Joshua Scholer (Jess) and his sisters, Marjorie Clark, Jackie Carey, and Nancy Casey, along with his brother, Gene Blonkowski, cousin, Kathy Wagner, uncle, Ed Polin, and aunt, Bonnie Connery.

He was a cherished brother-in-law to Patty Paulsen, Eileen and Paul Cox, Sue and Matty Cirelli, Kathy and Paul Keyes, Ginny and Jay Higgins, Frank.and Elaine DeCataldo, Tom and Mary Beth DeCataldo and Michael and Anna DeCataldo. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.


Chet's memory will forever be treasured by those who preceded him in death, including his father, Chester Blonkowski Sr., stepmother, Charlotte Blonkowski, mother, Dorothy (Polin) Casey, stepfather, Jack Casey, aunt, Elvina Reynolds, his mother and father-in-law, Marion and Frank DeCataldo,Sr. He is also reunited with his loving brother-in-laws, Robert Clark, John DeCataldo and Norm Paulsen, also, Chet's paternal grandparents, Mary and John Tkacz, and maternal grandparents, Gladys and Adolf Polin, who were an important part of his childhood.


Chet found solace and spiritual fulfillment at Christ Our Emmanuel Church in Chatham, NY, where he worshipped.


Chet's departure leaves a void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. His creative spirit and passion for music will forever be remembered. May his soul find eternal peace and may his memory bring comfort to all those who mourn his loss.

A private Celebration of Life will be held in Chet’s honor on September 9, 2023 at Stablegate Farm and Winery in East Schodack, NY.
