East Schodack- Anna M. Zido, 95, entered into eternal rest on January 27, 2024. Anna was born on February 21, 1928, in Richmond Hills, Queens, to Joseph and Emma Baque. She graduated from John Adams High School in Ozone Park, Queens. Anna married the love of her life, Stephen P. Zido, on September 5, 1949, and spent nearly 65 years together in loving companionship.
In the late 1940s, Anna worked as a stenographer in Manhattan for a sports magazine. However, her goal in life was to have a family. She loved children and loved raising her four sons and two grandchildren.
In 1978, she moved to East Schodack with her husband, youngest son David, and two grandchildren, Stephen, and Christine. She was a member of St. Mary’s of the Nativity Church in Nassau, St. Mary’s Altar Rosary Society, and prayer group. She said the rosary every day until her health prevented her from continuing to do so.
Anna loved flowers and was a member of the East Schodack Garden Club. She also loved to read and was a member of the Nassau Library Book Club. She enjoyed playing Scrabble, listening to music, indulging in chocolate milkshakes and ice cream, and spending time at the “DOS Beach” with Christine and Irene.
One of Anna’s greatest strengths was her adaptability to life’s circumstances. She was kind, accepting, and generous, often putting others’ needs above her own.
Anna was predeceased by her loving husband, Stephen P., her son, Stephen J. (and daughter-in-law Christina). She is survived by her sons Joseph (Mark), Thomas (Noreen), and David (Sandra), her grandchildren Stephen D. (Rebecca), Christine (Jeannine), great-granddaughter Graciana, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
The family would like to thank the Daughters of Sarah Community for Seniors staff for their caregiving and kind support.
