Anne Baksi of East Nassau passed peacefully into eternal rest on March 12, 2012. She was born May 28, 1925 in Voycice Czechoslovakia to the late George and Elizabeth Tomchik and immigrated to America at age 2 entering thru Ellis Island. Anne spent her formative years in East Nassau and graduated from Averill Park High School. She married Joe Baksi in 1943 and they traveled following Joe's professional boxing career. The family settled in New Jersey and then East Nassau. Joe passed away in 1977 after 34 years of marriage. Anne married Eugene Afinowicz in 1979 and they resided in Port Richey FL. Gene passed away in 2003 and Anne remained in Florida until 2009 when she returned to East Nassau.

Anne is survived by two daughters, Joan (Rich) Healy of Clifton Park and Judy (Roger Giroux) Baksi of Peru NY, brother, Paul Tomchik of East Nassau and sister Elizabeth Hrifko of Port Richey FL, several nieces and nephews and many grandchildren; Richard and Christine Healy of Annapolis MD, James Healy of Cary NC, Patricia and Jean Paul Blouin of Arlington VA, Catherine and Dave Terwilliger of Glenville NY, Maureen and Dave Conorozzo of Cary NC, Christine Healy of San Diego CA, Michelle Gowland of Bluffton SC, Peter (Marylou) Duquette of Cadyville NY, Johnathan ( Amanda) Duquette of Cape Cod MA, and nine great grand children. She is also survived by her sisters in law; Mary, Patricia, and Sue.

In addition to her parents Anne was predeceased by her brothers; George, John and Andrew Tomchik, and a sister Mary Mistretta. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday March 17 at 10:30am at St. Mary's Church in Nassau. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home 11 Elm St. Nassau, Friday March 16 from 4-8 pm. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery Nassau. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made in Anne's name to the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County 295 Valley View Blvd. Rensselaer NY 12144.
