Carol J. Banta, 85, of Nassau, NY, formerly of Texas passed away with her family by her side on Nov. 25, 2021. Born in Vincennes, Indiana she was the daughter of the late Cliff and Cecil Collins. Lovingly nicknamed “Hot Rod”, Carol was a loving woman whose greatest joy in life was being a caretaker. Whether it was in her professional life as a nurse or her private life as a family woman who raised and cared for children until she had to be cared for herself. Carol had a great sense of humor, and her practical jokes will be missed by all who knew her. She was predeceased by her husband, SGT. Richard Banta; son, Thomas Banta and 11 of her siblings. She is survived by her sons, Mark, Charles, Jeffery, Christopher, and Kevin Banta; daughters, Tonia Hollen and Cheri Ramirez; sister, Patricia Knoblett and over 75 grand, great grand and great great grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. in Nassau on Sunday, Dec. 5, from 4-6PM. In lieu of flowers donations in Carol’s memory may be made to an Alzheimer’s research organization of your choice.
