Chester L. Smith

Chester L. Smith, 88, of Nassau passed away December 24, 2011 at Albany Memorial Hospital. Born in Jersey Shore PA, he was the son of the late Rudolph and Mildred (Moore) Smith. He served his country as a radio operator in the U.S. Army, Engineer Battalion, during WWII in Europe. Chet was a member of the Tri Village Bow Hunters Club in Nassau and the Edward C. Swartz Southern Tier Senior Center.
In addition to his parents Chet was predeceased by his wife Constance G. (Clifton), brother, Glen H. Smith, sister, Frances Clow. He is survived by his; sons, David L. (Donna) Smith of Yonkers NY, Richard A. (Sandra) Smith of E. Greenbush NY, and Chester L. (Nancy) Smith of Natick MA; daughter, Mary Ellen Kelly of E. Greenbush; sister, Doris Vrooman. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Melissa, Rachel, Sarah, Richard Jr., and Alexandra Smith, Thomas, Shannon, and Shawn Kelly as well as two great-grandchildren.
Funeral service from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau on Friday December 30, at 7:00pm. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home prior to the service from 3:00-7:00pm. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
