Donald Raymond, 81, passed away March 10, at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Rochester; later resided in Albany, then in Nassau, New York. He Graduated from Columbia High School in 1950 and then served his country abroad at the rank of Corporal as a radiology technician, which allowed him to travel extensively during his tenure in the United States Army. Upon returning to the states, he worked as a lab technician at General Analine in Rensselaer, New York then as a technical writer for General Electric, Martin Marietta and Lockheed Martin in Pittsfield, Massachusetts, writing specifications and training manuals for various military applications. Donald was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing immensely. He was happiest in the kitchen or by the grill cooking, loved entertaining and hosted with his wife many gatherings of family; both close and extended, and the many friends he made through his life. However, his favorite hobby was his garden, which gave him countless hours of enjoyment. Donald had a keen eye for a bargain and relished finding a good deal. Donald Clifford Raymond was the son of the late David and Dorothy Raymond, and is predeceased by his beloved grandmother Edith Waite, his brother David, and his step siblings Elmo, Edith, Buster, Carl, and Emma. Donald is survived by the love of his life, his wife Mary of 56 years, his brother Daniel, his children Dorothy Raymond, Donna Raymond (wife of Todd Suriano), Laurie Raymond (wife of Alan Skillman) and Shawn Raymond. He is also survived by four grandchildren, three step grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two step great grandchildren, and many others that he considered family members.
