Eleanor Tremont

Eleanor Tremont, 94, of East Schodack passed away in the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital on February 21, 2023. Born in Meriden, CT, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Florena Taylor and wife of the late Lawrence M. Tremont. Eleanor held several positions in her younger years. She was a stenographer, a very successful real estate agent for Gillespie Real Estate and an administrative assistant for Bulson Law Office in Albany. Though successful in her careers, her most important “job” was babysitting her grandchildren. She enjoyed every moment spent with them and she loved them dearly.

Eleanor enjoyed vacationing in Maine, was an avid gardener and took great pride in her flowers, vegetables, and fruits. She was very involved in the community when her children were younger, spending time helping the local girl scout troops and assisting at school as a room mother. Eleanor was very involved in the Edward Swartz Senior Center and would assist in any way she could. She, as well as her late husband Lawrence, had a keen interest in antique automobiles and would spend time traveling to car meets in the summer and fall.

Eleanor is survived by her son David (Debra) Tremont; daughter, Lorraine (Dennis) Guyon; grandchildren, Michael (Morgan Libruk, Fiancée) and Daniel Tremont, Jessica (Aaron) Dougherty, Christopher Guyon, Ashley (Brandon) Ballou and Stephanie King. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Henry Dougherty, Cora Dougherty, and Olivia Ballou.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Teresian House where Eleanor was a resident for the last two years, and the caregivers at The Community Hospice for their care and compassion.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 26 Church St., Nassau, on Friday, Feb. 24, at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 4-7 p.m. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, East Schodack.
