Rensselaer - Erwin Samuel (Sam) Lavare, 80, passed away peacefully at home after a long illness on November 20, 2011, surrounded by his loving family. Born on January 28, 1931 near Malone, NY, he was the son of the late Clifford and Marion (Durgan) Lavare.



Erwin served in the military for two years in the early 1950s. He was a long time employee of various Ford Dealerships in the capital district area.



He was preceded in death by both parents and siblings Milton, Art, Joe, Donald Lavare and Bernice Buzzy.



He is survived by siblings, Junior, Frank, David Lavare and Dorothy Keating, ex-wife Marcia Platel, his devoted children, Dale (Kim), Darrell (Maureen) and Daryn (Nancy) Lavare and Desiree Platel: adoring grandchildren, Sam, Jeremy, Jessica, Amber, Kaitlyn and Kierstyn Lavare; Nick and Lilly Platel; and Billy and Aarika Moak: and two great grandchildren, Sammy Lavare Jr. and Haley Moak: and various nieces and nephews.



Funeral from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm Street, Nassau, Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-8 PM. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery in Nassau.
