Irene B. Scrum, 86, of Cohoes, formerly of Nassau, passed away on December 17, 2015 in the Eddy Village Green at Cohoes. Born in Bennington VT to the late Emella and Mary Bruso she was one of thirteen children all of whom predeceased her. Irene was well known in the small village of Nassau, working at both Stewarts and Grampy's. She loved watching the wildlife in her backyard, especially the hummingbirds visiting her feeders. Irene loved spending time with her friends, playing cards and visiting Casinos. She took pride in the appearance of her lawn making sure everything was just so and she cherished all of her pets and loved kissing their wet noses. Most of all Irene was a caring person, loving mother and best friend who was extremely attentive to the needs of her family. She is survived by her sons, Bruce (Jeanette) Harrington, Gary (Sharon) Harrington Sr. and Harvey (Kaylene) Wheeler, her daughter Juanita Wheeler and her dear friend Barbara. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Christina, Jason, Gary Jr., April, Jarome and her four great grandchildren. Funeral service from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau on Monday Dec. 21 at 11:00am thence to St. Mary's Church in Nassau where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:30am. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home prior to the service from 9:30am to 11:30am. Interment in New Sacred Heart Cemetery, South Old Post Rd., Castleton. In lieu of flowers contributions in Irene's memory may be made to the Eddy Village Green at Cohoes, 421 Columbia St. Cohoes, NY 12047. Online condolences may be offered at Mooneyfuneralhome.com
