Jane Rendell

Jane E. Rendell of North Chatham died July 6, 2014 at Barnwell Nursing Home in Valatie. Born on October 17, 1917, Jane was a fixture in North Chatham for the majority of her 96 years. Jane attended Martin H. Glynn High School and went on to college at the NYS Teachers College in Albany to become a teacher. Upon returning from college Jane helped run the Rendell family store and dance hall. Jane managed the store while caring for first her father, Richard Rendell, and then mother, Eva Rendell, for many years. After their deaths she devoted her time to tutoring dozens of local school children in math and science classes, many owing their passing grades to her. She was extremely active in the Methodist Church until she was in her late 80s, and had a multitude of friends within the village, many of whom have predeceased her. Jane will be sorely missed by her North Chatham family and friends from near and far. Jane was predeceased by her mother, father and sister Frances. A celebration of her life will be held Thursday, July 17, 2014 5:00 p.m. at the North Chatham United Methodist Church.
