Averill Park- Jeanne M. Carpentier passed away peacefully, at the age of 86, at the Van Rensselaer Manor Nursing Home on Monday, April 17, 2023. Jeanne was born in Albany, NY, on September 12, 1936, to the late Lucien and Marie (DeGonzague) O’Keefe. She was a lifelong resident of Averill Park, graduated from the Averill Park Central School District and worked as a self-employed legal typist for many years. Jeanne was the beloved wife of Richard A. Carpentier. Jeanne spent her entire life being a devout catholic practicing at St. Henry’s Church, in Averill Park. Over the years, Jeanne volunteered her time to many different causes at St. Henry’s. She was a member of the rosary alter society, she served on the parish council, served as a Eucharistic Minister, and was a longtime member of the church choir. Jeanne also volunteered her time to the Bethany House for over 15 years. Some of Jeanne’s joys in life were knitting, crocheting, cooking, reading, playing cards, and traveling in the winter months to Florida with her husband. She had no greater joy in life than her family, she was the proud mother of 5 children, grandmother to 9 grandchildren, and Gigi to 15 great grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Richard A. Carpentier; her sons David (Tamie), James (Louise), and Jeffrey Carpentier; her daughters Suzanne (Michael) Hicks and Kathleen (Scott) Barbour; her 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother Joseph Edgar (Diane) O’Keefe, sister Bernadette (late Arthur) Mardon, and sister-in-law, Carolyn and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers George, James, and Phillip O’Keefe.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, April 24, at 9:30 am in St. Henry’s Church, 39 Old Route 66, Averill Park. The Rite of Committal will take place at 12:00 pm at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, in Schuylerville, NY. Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Jeanne’s family on Sunday, April 23, at St. Henry’s Church from 2:00-4:00 pm.
