Jerrold "Jere" VanDeusen, 81, of Nassau passed away peacefully at his home on December 22, 2014. Born in Nassau on Feb. 13, 1933 he was the son of the late George E. and Irene (Chandler) VanDeusen and brother to the late Arthur L. VanDeusen. Jere faithfully served our country in the Air Force during the Korean War and was past Commander of the Chandler Young VFW Post 8162 in Nassau. He was very involved in his community and was a former official of the Nassau Baseball Association, member of the Nassau Hose Company #1 and former Mayor of the Village of Nassau. Jere was an avid New York Yankees fan. He retired from Otis Elevator after 30 years and moved to Florida in 1991 where he resided for 23 years. Husband of the late Patricia (Smith) VanDeusen he is survived by three sons, Lane, Robert (Mary Jo) and Chris Vandeusen, grandchildren, Adam, Samantha and Mark. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau on Saturday Dec. 27th, from 10:00am-1:00pm. There will be no funeral service and the interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Contributions in Jere's memory may be made to the Chandler Young VFW Post 8162, P.O.
