John S. Risko, 82, of Schodack passed away peacefully at home on Monday Nov. 15, 2010. John was born in Manhattan, NYC on July 31, 1928 to Joseph and Sarah Risko.

Beloved Husband of Marie F. McLaughlin Risko for 48 years. Father of John (Jody), Thomas, and Kevin (Alyssa) Risko. Loving Grandfather of Molly, Sarah, Jill, Robert, Halle, Hannah and Leonardo Risko. Loving brother of the late Joseph and James Risko and dearest sister Margaret Fischer. Brother in law of Elizabeth and Emily Risko, John and Patricia Tomchik, and John and Patricia McLaughlin. He is also survived by many nephews and nieces.

John was a NYC Police Officer for 21 years, retiring in 1972. John was also a retiree of The United States Federal Government and served for 35 years in the United States Armed Forces. John loved fishing, roller-skating, a firm handshake, Sunday breakfast with the family and watching T.V. He loved to tell stories of his youth, his father, and experiences as a police officer.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Albany Medical Center and The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.

Funeral service from the Thomas P. Mooney funeral Home 11 Elm St. Nassau, Friday at 9:15 AM and from St. Mary's Church, Nassau, at 10:00 AM where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, followed by Christian Burial at St. Mary's Cemetery, Nassau. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00-8:00 PM.
