John Sr

Castleton Hanson, John J. Sr. John J. Hanson Sr, 82, passed away suddenly Friday, October 7, 2011. Born March 20, 1929 in Old Chatham, NY, he was the son of the late Joseph V. Hanson and Mary Grace Hanson. John resided in Castleton most of his life. He served in the US Navy Reserve from 1951 to 1958. He was the owner of Soil and Material Testing in Castleton.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased his brother Joseph Hanson. John is survived by his wife Hannelore Mueller; his children Myles "Bud" (Rhonda) Hanson, Karen A. (Ralph) Rickert, John J. Hanson, Jr. and Christl M. (Clark) Hussey. Grandchildren Kimberly, Keri Ann, Kelly, Amanda, Nicole, Ralph II, Kylee, and Christopher. Great Grandchildren Brady, Katelyn, Benjamin, Gaige, and Matteo. Brothers Thomas and William Hanson. Sisters Mary Tomchik, Madeline Hanson, and Margaret VanDeusen. Also, his faithful companions Tsar and Dutchess.

There will be no viewing hours or graveside service. Donations in his memory may be made to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society/SPCA, 125 Humane Society Road, Hudson, NY 12534. A memorial service is planned for November 12, 2011, 11:00am at the Emmanuel Reformed Church, 1150 Maple Hill Road, Castleton. A gathering at the Nassau Sportsmans Club, Boyce Road, Nassau, will follow the service.
