Laura M. Sturm, 90, of Castleton, passed away at home on February 20, 2025. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late John Teal Sr. and Kathryn (Kolodich) Teal. Laura was a beloved wife and mother and was her husband's right hand in every endeavor they ever attempted. Together, Laura and her late husband William built three houses together.
Laura enjoyed gardening, was extremely skilled at crafting ceramic pieces and loved everything originating from the culture of East Asia. She worked for a period at Montgomery Ward but was primarily a homemaker and caregiver. She took care of several family members when their health was failing and was always giving of herself to help others.
She is survived by her son William J. Sturm, III of Castleton; her beloved cats, Buck, Doe and Fawn; her "adopted" and much beloved daughter Marissa Boyles and her children Liam, Thomas and Natalie. Marissa, who was also her caregiver, became the closest person to her above all else. She was an absolute joy to have been a part of her life, bringing her more happiness in the past 20 years and providing the feminine touch of a daughter that a son could not provide. We all love you and will miss you.
She is also the sister of Margaret Eksuzain of Pittsfield, MA, the late Anna Mary Curtis, and Sally Ewald of Columbia, TN; mother of Deborah Dansereau of Albany and the late Pamela Sturm; grandmother of Timothy, Amanda, Andrea, Eric, and Brittany as well as great grandmother of 6.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Laura's family on Friday, February 28, from 10am-12pm. Funeral service and interment in Nassau-Schodack Cemetery will take place in the spring.
