Marie T. D'Amico, 72, of East Nassau passed away peacefully on Thursday, August 26th, after a courageous battle with congestive heart failure. Marie was born in the Bronx, NY on August 19th, 1938 to Agnes and James Hickey. Upon her graduation from Aquinas High School, Marie worked for the Exxon Corporation in Rockefeller Plaza in New York where she was employed for fifteen years. After moving upstate, she began a twenty-five year career with the U.S. Postal Service retiring as a much-loved Postmaster of the East Nassau branch. She was a devoted Catholic and faithful communicant of St. Mary's Church. Marie was beautiful and generous, compassionate and caring, and a lover of life. Marie enjoyed listening to Frank Sinatra, crocheting, and sewing beautiful things for those close to her. She will be remembered for her kind heart and her lovely smile.
She is survived by her beloved daughter Mary D'Amico of Nassau, her dear sister and brother-in-law Frances and Bruce Fairweather of East Nassau, and her loving cousins Patricia (John) Tomchik, Jack (Patricia) McLaughlin, and Marie (John) Risko. Marie was the cherished aunt of James (Dayan) Fairweather and her three nieces, Anne Fairweather, Elizabeth (Kevin) Wood, and Catherine Fairweather.

Funeral from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau, Monday at 9:30 AM and from St. Mary's Church, Nassau at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home Sunday from 4-8 PM.
