East Nassau- Mary Joan (Salmon) Long, 73, of East Nassau, passed away at home on April 1, 2024. Born in Bennington, VT, she was the daughter of Dorothy (Abear) Vollor and the late Walt Vollor. Mary was a graduate of Linton High School, in Schenectady, NY. Mary was married to the late Richard W. Long. She was a teacher's aide at BOCES Questar III, in East Greenbush. Mary was a member of the Tsatsawassa Women's Auxiliary and the Tamarac Outdoorsmen Sportsman Club. She enjoyed completing scratch offs, poetry, drawing, and coloring.
In addition to her husband and father, she was predeceased by her brother, Clark Salmon and her sister, Elizabeth Salmon. Mary is survived by, her sons; Richard W. (Caitlin Heskett) and Jimmy J. (Tina Knights) Long, her grandson; Logan C.J. Long, her brothers; Kenneth Vollor, James Salmon, and Dennis Salmon, her sister; Jo-Ann (late Charles Sr.) McDonald.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Mary's family on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 4:00-6:30 p.m., at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau, NY 12123. A sharing of remembrances will begin at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the funeral home. Interment and graveside service will take place on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 12:00 p.m., at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Colonie, NY. A funeral procession will leave the funeral home promptly at 11:00 a.m.
