Patricia J. Buccigrossi passed away on March 13, 2018, surrounded by her family and friends, in her home in Largo, Florida.

Pat was born Patricia Josephine McDermott March 14, 1932 to Nora (Connors) and Harry McDermott. One of four children, she grew up in Lynbrook, NY. She married Jack Buccigrossi in 1954 and they had four children; Michael, Joan, James and Mary.

Pat was a courageous woman throughout her life. She sustained an injury to her spine in 1964, leaving her a paraplegic and confined to a wheelchair. Her disability never stopped her or even slowed her down. She continued to take care of her young family and later returned to school and reentered the workforce as a bookkeeper for the University of New York at Albany. Everyone who met Pat admired her warmth, resilience and courageous spirit.

Pat loved to entertain, often hosting friends and family for long weekends in the big house on Waterbury Road in Nassau. She created fond memories for everyone with her hospitality, especially her wonderful cooking and baking; her apple pies and chocolate chip cookies are legendary. After she and Jack retired, they moved to Imperial Point in Largo, Florida, where they enjoyed socializing and entertaining. She and Jack loved to travel to National Parks and watch the sunsets and dolphins from their balcony.

Her son, Michael, her husband, Jack and her beloved sister Eileen, predeceased Pat. She is remembered with love and affection by children and their families, Mary Buccigrossi and Pete Lundy, James Buccigrossi, Joan Buccigrossi and Duane Hubeler, and Rob Tosner and Gregg Moore and a multitude of friends and family. A memorial Mass will be held in honor of her life at 10:00AM Monday, May 13th at St. Mary's Church in Nassau. Following the Mass, Pat will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetery beside her husband Jack and son Michael.
