Raymond R. Hotaling, 86, entered into eternal life on Wednesday Dec. 14, 2016 at the Loving Home on the Bluff in Rexford, surrounded by his loving family, after a long illness. Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Harold E. Hotaling and Evelyn Goslant Hotaling. He married the love of his life, Jeannine Dussault, nearly 60 years ago. He served as a Sergeant First Class in the U.S. Army, stationed in Japan during the Korean War. He credited the Army with teaching him the skills that led to his lifelong work. After the Army, Ray worked in the trucking industry, specializing in Rigging and Heavy Hauling. He was fondly called "Rigger Ray" by his many friends. During the 70's he worked for Mar Van Rigging and Heavy Hauling, and he retired in 1995 from C.D. Perry and Sons. He was a loving and kind husband, father, and son-in-law. In his retirement years, he enjoyed quiet companionship with his wife, and spending time with family. He was devoted to his mother-in-law and took wonderful care of her before her passing. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved big brother, Jim. He is survived by his loving wife Jeannine, his daughter Debby, his son Michael, and his "other daughter," Darlene Schwarz. He is also survived by his brothers, Donald (Hazel) Hotaling and Charles Hotaling, his sisters, Valerie (Michael) Herman, Catherine White, Sharon (Donald) Anselment, Helen (Raymond) D'Amico, and many nieces and nephews. Ray's family wishes to acknowledge the staff of Loving Home for their extraordinarily kind and compassionate care in the months leading up to his peaceful passing...they truly are Ray's angels on earth. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday Dec. 19 at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Church in Nassau. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau on Sunday afternoon from 1:00PM to 4:00PM. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Nassau.
