Raymond Schwartz

Nassau- Raymond (Phil) Schwartz, 90, of Nassau died on Friday December 13, 2013 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany NY, son of the late Morris and Ida Schwartz he is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Charlotte Bemiss Schwartz. Father of Gene Schwartz and Marlene (Jim) Hodge of Nassau, NY. Grandfather of Dan Schwartz, Kimberly Schwartz, Jesse (Jen) Gorman and Sarah ( Jules) Pfeiffer all of Nassau NY. Great Grandfather of Katrina Gorman, Nate Gorman, Kianna Zack, Joseph Zack, Katelyn Zack and Ryan Pfeiffer. Brother of Anne Blaustein, Sam Schwartz and Charlotte Ginsburg all of New Jersey and Tilly Merrill of Glens Falls, NY. He was predeceased by his brothers Daniel and Frank Schwartz.

A U.S. Marine Veteran, Phil served during World War II with the 1st Marine Amphibious Corps, 9th Division. He was a life-time member and past commander of the Chandler-Young VFW Post #8162, Nassau, NY. Phil was a 60 year member of the Operating Engineers Local 106 doing what he loved most, being a Crane Operator. He spent the last couple of years before retiring sharing his knowledge of crane operating with students at the Operating Engineer's School in Westerlo, NY.

Relatives and friends are invited to call Monday December 16 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau NY. Funeral Service Tuesday December 17, 10:00am at the funeral home. Interment Old Chatham Union Cemetery, Shaker Museum Road, Old Chatham NY.
