Castleton-Richard D. Bedell, 81, of Castleton died February 22, 2012 at Albany Medical Center Hospital. Born in Albany NY he was the son of the late Horace and Eleanor (Bell) Bedell. Mr. Bedell was an Army Veteran who served during the Korean War. He was a truck mechanic for H.L. Gage in Albany for 25 years prior to his retirement in 1993. Mr. Bedell enjoyed frequenting casinos and especially liked playing cards. A big NASCAR fan Richard tried not to miss a race. Mr. Bedell was an avid outdoorsman, he loved to go on snowmobiling trips and cruises with his wife Rita and also enjoyed canoeing. Richard was a life member of the Rensselaer Elks Lodge #2073.
Richard is survived by his; loving wife of fifty years Rita (Hodgkins) Bedell, his cat, Duster; brothers, Walter and Robert Bedell; sister, Ida Bulan, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his; brothers, Willis, James, and Franklin Bedell and a sister, Frances Davis.

Funeral service from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau on Monday, February 27, at 12:00noon. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home prior to the service from 10:00am-12:00. Interment in New Sacred Heart Cemetery, Castleton.
