Richard J. Dailey, 85, of Castleton passed away February 6, 2012 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Born in Hartford CT he was the son of the late James B. and Nellie (Grifin) Dailey. Richard was an Army Air Force veteran who served during WWII. He was widely known for running for County Legislator under the Democratic Party in a Republican stronghold. He enjoyed clock making and woodworking, especially making doll houses. He was known as a tinkerer and was good with his hands. Richard enjoyed family outings to Maine and Maryland and occasionally enjoyed gaming at the racino.

Richard is survived by his; wife, Nancy (Montemaggiore) Dailey; sons, Thomas J. (Gail) Dailey and Richard C. (Margie) Dailey; daughters, Linda Graham, Ruth A. (Dennis Lemner) Petell, and Robin L. (Stan Clark) Mesko; grandchildren, Ryan J. Mesko, Karl and Edwin Graham, Tim O'Brien and spouse, Jennifer Acker, Thomas Dailey, Rebecca Marino and spouses, and Shawn Ingrahm. He is also survived by twelve great grandchildren. Richard was predeceased by his first wife Joyce (Dezenday) Dailey, grandson, James A. Mesko, and son-in-laws, Kenneth Graham and Richard Petell.

Friends and relatives are invited to pay their final respects to Richard at 10:00am on Friday Feb. 10th at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home 11 Elm St. Nassau. This will be followed by a graveside service at the Nassau-Schodack Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Thursday evening from 4-8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations in Richard's memory may be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 5 Computer Drive West, Suite 100, Albany NY 12205.
