Roberta Sherman, 101, formerly of Nassau passed away on November 13, 2014 at the Teresian House in Albany. Born in Buffalo to the late Selden and Marie Ely she was predeceased by her loving husband of 60 years James G. Sherman. Roberta had lived in Nassau for 65 years before moving to the Teresian House in 2006 where she stayed active and involved in many of the trips that were offered there. She was a homemaker who enjoyed knitting, swimming at the YMCA and visiting at the Edward Swartz Senior Service Center. She was a member of the St. Mary's Rosary Alter Society when it was in existence.
She is survived by her son Irving Sherman of San Francisco CA, daughters Mary (Peter) Lyden of Colonie and Martha (Armand) Lopez of East Greenbush, grandchildren Marisa Geraghty, Michael Lyden, Jacqueline Lopez, Michelle Higdon and Kara Salvi. She is also survived by eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Selden B. Ely.
Funeral service from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau on Wednesday Nov. 19th at 9:15am thence to St. Mary's Church in Nassau where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00-8:00pm. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Nassau. In lieu of flowers donations in Roberta's memory may be made to Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Ave. Menands NY 12204 or to the Teresian House, 200 Washington Ave. Ext. Albany, NY 12203.
