Stella I. Harris beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed into heaven on February 23rd, 2011 at St. Peter's Hospital. She was born Stella Irene Sparling to the late Leon and Della Sparling on January 12, 1924 in Roxbury N.Y. and was raised in the country. Stella raised five children, mostly alone, she taught them to be strong in tough times, responsible for their actions and always to look out for those in need. A loving and caring person she would share her last slice of bread with anyone less fortunate. Stella also volunteered at the Nassau Resource Center for the last twenty years. Stella's greatest joys were spending time with family at gatherings or one on one. She enjoyed sitting on her porch listening to and watching nature's abundance. She was an avid rummy and scrabble player.

In addition to her parents Stella is predeceased by her son Raymond (Sue) Harris and her grandson T.K. Bradley. She is survived by her; sons, Donald Butch (Donna) Harris and Tim (Jamie) Harris; daughters, Diana (Dana) Murphy and Andrea (Ray) Vroman; grandchildren, Chris Bradley, Tim Murphy, Sheena Harris, Michael Harris, Kelly (Erik) Lynch, Bruce and Becky Vroman, Courtney and Zack Harris; Great-grandchildren, Tyler Harris, Amelia and Evette Bull, Andrew and Sophia Hosie. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home 11 Elm St. Nassau, Saturday February 26, at 4:30 pm. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home prior to the service from 1:30-4:30pm.
