Susan Stammel-Huffer

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Susan R. Stammel-Huffer on December 4, 2024 at Albany Medical Center. Susan was born on January 30, 1955 in Albany. She grew up in Nassau, later moving to Chatham, NY. She graduated from Columbia High School in 1972. Susan had many jobs, personal caregiver, accounts receivable, and Legislative Assistant for the State of New York being a few. If Sue was not sitting in her chair with knitting needles, needle point, or a sewing project, you would most likely find her in her gardens. She could be there for hours at a time, often until dark. Sue is survived by husband Kenneth Huffer; children Jessica Hauenstein (John), Travis Sanford (Christie), Jennifer Sanford (Brian) and Nathan Sanford (Hillary); stepdaughter Kim Mendick (Paul); stepson Kevin Huffer; grandchildren Ariel (Nick), Lauren, Riley, Emma, Cameron, Michael, Noah, Lucas, Dylan, Kody, Kyle and Aurora. She was preceded in death by parents Roland H. Stammel, Elizabeth Stammel; younger brother Bruce Stammel. Sue requested that there be no services. She simply wanted us to remember her for her warmth and wit.
