Lillian M. Washer, 89, formerly of Saranac and most recently of Castleton NY, died September 10, 2012 at Riverside Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Castleton. Lillian was born on April 26, 1923 in Saranac Lake and adopted by Fredrick and Harriet Farewell of Loon Lake N.Y. She spent twelve years in Plattsburgh N.Y. where she was a member of the American Legion Post #20 Ladies Auxiliary. She also volunteered at the Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital for sixteen years. While in Castleton Lillian was a member of the Edward Swartz Senior Service Center.

Lillian is survived by her daughter Marie (Thomas) Hirt of Castleton NY, five grandchildren and several great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Eugene A. Washer, son, Eugene M. Washer, son-in-law William A. McCaffrey and her loving companion Howard Dubray.

Funeral service from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau on Thursday, September 13, 2012 at 7:00pm. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home prior to the service from 4-7pm. Inurnment will be private at the convenience of the family at Merrilville Cemetery in Loon Lake N.Y.
