Alexander Held

January 14, 1992 — May 10, 2014

Alexander W. Held, 22, of East Nassau passed away on May 10, 2014 at his home. Born in Albany he was the loving son of William and Jacqueline (Clayton) Held. Alex graduated Columbia High School in 2010 and was most recently taking classes at Hudson Valley Community College. While attending college Alex worked at Burden Lake Country Club and was the Devil Dawg, the mascot for the Albany Devils ice hockey team. He enjoyed the outdoors and loved hiking, camping and sitting by the campfire with family and friends. Alex gained many of his friends through scouting. He started scouting with Cub Scout Pack 166 in Nassau and went on to become an Eagle Scout with Gold Palm for Troop 166 of Nassau. Alex was also an avid Boston sports fan, in fact the only Albany Devils game that he was unable to attend as the Devil Dawg was due to the fact that he was at a Red Sox game.

In addition to his parents Alex is survived by his sister Mackenzie Held of East Nassau, grandmother Carol Clayton of Stow Mass., uncle, Bradley Held of Carlisle Mass., aunts, Susan Amero of Townsend Mass., Diane Clayton-Macheski of East Greenbush, and several wonderful cousins.

A memorial service will be held at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm Street Nassau, NY on Saturday May 17 at 3:00pm. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home prior to the service from 12:00-3:00pm. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Donations in Alex's memory may be made to BSA Troop 166, 5220 N.Y. 203 Nassau, NY 12123 with "in memory of Alex Held" in the memo. Friends are encouraged to bring their favorite photos of Alex to post at the service. Online condolences may be offered at Mooneyfuneralhome.com
