Please share a memory of Bonnie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Sofia, Bonnie L. (Olf) (Ernst) SCHODACK — Bonnie L Sofia, 66, of Jarmann Way, died Saturday, October 23, 2010. Born in Staten Island, Bonnie was the daughter of Laura Olf , the wife of Charles Sofia, and the sister of Glenn Olf, all of Schodack. She is also survived by niece Piper Olf of Los Angeles and nephew Joshua Olf of Boston. Bonnie graduated from Columbia High School and Westbrook Junior College in Portland, Maine. After working in the Boston area, she returned to East Greenbush where, pursuing a lifelong passion, she opened an antique store in Couse Corners. She worked many years as a main office secretary in the East Greenbush Schools, becoming president of the secretaries' union before illness forced an early retirement. Bonnie also worked as a secretary for the State of New York and later managed the Liquor Shed, in Rensselaer. She continued to enjoy her love of nature: feeding her winter birds, tending her flowerbeds, and enjoying the peacefulness of the country. Bonnie enjoyed watching NFL games and NASCAR races with her loving husband, Charlie, and read avidly. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm Street, Nassau on Thursday, October 28, 2010 from 4 to 7 p.m. to share memories and celebrate Bonnie's life. In lieu of flowers, Bonnie would wish that memorials be made to those groups who work to protect the wildlife that she loved so much: the Audubon Society and the Nature Conservancy.
