George Hamilton

January 7, 1942 — December 17, 2014

George B. Hamilton, 72, of East Nassau passed away on December 17, 2014 under Hospice care at Samaritan Hospital in Troy. Born in Troy he was the son of the late Russell and Louise (Cowan) Hamilton. George honorably served our country in the United States Army from 1962-1965. He was a carpenter by trade and a member of the Carpenters Union, Local #370 of Albany for over 30 years. As a former member of the Nassau Sportsman Club he loved to Hunt and Fish and would travel to go deep sea fishing. He also enjoyed fishing for stripers on the Hudson River. George enjoyed woodworking and even built his own home.

He is survived by his loving wife Barbara (Schermerhorn) Hamilton, sons, James (Carol) Hamilton and Robert Hamilton, brothers, Frank, Roy, Richard and Roger Hamilton, sisters, Adele Chartrand and Joyce Evans. He is also survived by his granddaughter Gillian Hamilton. Funeral service from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau on Saturday Dec. 20th at 1:00pm. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home prior to the service from 10:00am-1:00pm. Interment in Nassau Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in George's memory may be made to the Community Hospice, 295 Valley View Blvd. Rensselaer NY 12144. Online condolences may be offered at Mooneyfuneralhome.com
