George R. Casler, 68, of Nassau passed away at St. Peter's Hospital on October, 5, 2015. Born in Schenectady he was the son of the late Robert and Daisy (Vedder) Casler. George had been a resident of Nassau since 1979. He was a former member of the Nassau Hose Co. #1 and the Nassau Ambulance. George was an Elder at the Blooming Grove Reformed Church in Defreestville and prior to that at the Third Reformed Church in Albany. He loved to cook, can, read and was an avid collector of music and art in digital form. George was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching the White Sox, Yankees and Steelers. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon Johnson, son, David D. (Laurie) Casler and two grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday October 10, 10:00AM at the Blooming Grove Reformed Church, 706 Bloomingrove Dr. in Defreestville. A time for visiting and fellowship will immediately follow the service at the church.
