Barbara A. Becker, 77, of Valatie passed away on Oct. 27, 2016 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter's Hospital. Born and raised in Albany she was the daughter of the late William and Helen LaRose. Mrs. Becker had lived in Nassau most of her life until moving to Valatie 15 years ago. Barbara was a past member of the East Schodack Fire Co. where in 1970 she, along with nine other women, became the first females to join as active volunteer firefighters in Rensselaer County. She was a life member of the Nassau Hose Co. #1 with over 30 years of active service, past Nassau Hose Co. membership secretary, past member of the Nassau Rescue Squad and past treasurer of the Nassau Hose Company's Ladies Auxiliary.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband's Thomas W. Valle Sr. and Richard W. Becker and her son Timothy W. Valle. She is survived by her son Thomas Valle Jr. of Ewa Beach HI; daughter, Kim Harrington of Rensselaer; daughter in law, Kathleen Cushing of Valatie; brothers, William A. LaRose of Vischer Ferry and Richard LaRose of Colonie; sisters, Judy Passino of Nassau and Susan Archambeault of Nassau. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Funeral from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau on Monday Oct. 31 at 11:00am. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday from 3:00 to 7:00pm. Interment in St. Mary's Cemetery, Nassau. In lieu of flowers donations in Barbara's memory may be made to the Nassau Hose Co. #1, P.O. Box 42 Nassau, NY 12123.
