James Mccaffrey

James F. McCaffrey, 48, of Nassau passed suddenly on January 1, 2017. Lifelong resident of Nassau, Jim is survived by his wife of 22 years, Stacie Harrington McCaffrey; sons Joshua, Jared and Zachary McCaffrey. Jim, born in Albany was the son of Marie (McCaffrey) Hirt and the late William A. McCaffrey. Jim was employed by the New York State Assembly for 22 years. His passion was racing and he was an avid Sprint Car racer for many years. Jim loved his children and was very involved with their sports endeavors. He enjoyed playing ball with his boys and coaching them as well. Jim was past Vice President of the Nassau Baseball Association and was on the board for Sorensco Baseball. Jim is also survived by his mother Marie McCaffrey Hirt (Thomas); brother Edward W. McCaffrey; father-in-law, Wilfred (Cindy) Harrington; mother-in-law, Gail (Jacob) Coons and several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau on Friday, Jan. 6, at 11:00AM. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00PM.
