Donald Kullman

January 20, 1920 — January 5, 2017

Donald G. Kullman, 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Evergreen Commons after a short illness. Born in Albany on January 4, 1920, he was the son of George and Hazel Kullman. After graduating from Martin Van Buren High School in Valatie, Donald served in the United States Army in the Pacific Theater of World War II. After the War, he was employed by the New York Central Railroad, as a brakeman, at the Albany and Rensselaer railroad stations for over 40 years. Donald enjoyed serving his community whether it be with the Schodack Valley Fire Company or St. Paul's Methodist Church. Donald is survived by his loving wife of 74 years, Clara (Wheeler), his son, Kenneth (Doris) of East Schodack, his daughter, Hazel Geracitano (Benjamin) of Nassau, his grandchildren, Daren Kullman of Boyertown, PA, Mark Geracitano of Nassau, and Athena Geracitano of Los Angeles, CA. Donald was very proud of his five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He loved being with his family more than anything in this world. He was the best "pa" ever. Funeral service from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St., Nassau, NY on Tuesday, January 10 at 12:00pm. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home prior to the service from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Interment will follow at the North Chatham Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Castleton Volunteer Ambulance, 1700 Brookview Road, Castleton, NY 12033. The family would like to express their appreciation to the doctors and nurses at Albany Memorial Hospital and the staff members of Evergreen Commons for their care and compassion provided to Donald and his wife during his last days.
