Obituary of Erica Jeanne Phillips

East Schodack Erica J. Phillips, 29, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 22, 2017 after a brief illness related to her lifelong battle with Cystic Fibrosis. She is survived by her parents, Thomas and Margaret Phillips; her brother, Glenn; and her Corgi, Ranger. Her extended family includes 3 grandparents, 14 aunts and uncles, 15 cousins, and 4 nieces and nephews. Erica graduated from Columbia High School in 2006 and obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Animal Science and Technology from University of Rhode Island in 2010, both with honors. She went on to become a Licensed Veterinary Technician. Erica worked at Nassau Veterinary Clinic in various positions starting from kennels at age 14 to Technician and Assistant Manager at the time of her passing. She will be remembered for her strength of character, her optimism, and her drive to get things done even in the face of challenges. She showed compassion for people and pets and loved her Corgis. She recently found joy in hot yoga and stand-up paddle boarding. Calling hours are planned for Saturday, November 4, from 10 am-12 pm, followed by a Celebration of Her Life from 12-1 pm both at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, Nassau, NY. A Reception will follow at S&S Farm Brewery also in Nassau. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations to either the Northeastern New York Chapter of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (cff.org and select Northeastern NY Chapter) or the Donna Crandall Foundation (donnacrandallfoundation.org).
