Nancy Reed, 80, of Nassau passed away June 7, 2011 at Barnwell Nursing Home. Nancy was born in Ticonderoga NY and had been living in Nassau for the last sixty years. She retired from the Donald P. Sutherland Elementary School in Nassau in 2001 after working there for fifteen years. Nancy was a former member of the Nassau American Legion Post # 1268 Ladies Auxiliary.

Wife of the late Gene A. Van Valkenburgh she is survived by her; step-sons, Wayne (Jackie) Van Valkenburgh, Gary (Deborah) Van Valkenburgh, and Gene (Diane) Van Valkenburgh II; step-daughters, Nancy Ann Meter, Robin Van Valkenburgh, and Linda Van Valkenburgh; dear friends, Charlie and Janell Scott. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral service from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau on Friday June 10, 2011 at 12:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home prior to the service from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Interment will be in the Nassau-Schodack Cemetery, Nassau NY.
