David J. Morris Jr.

May 7, 1947 — February 26, 2021

Morris, David Joseph, Jr., Nassau
David Joseph Morris Jr., also known by his handle “Saddle-Tramp” passed away peacefully at his home the morning of February 26th, 2021. David was born on May 7, 1947, to David and Vera Morris. He was predeceased by his first wife Dorothy Jean Morris; and second wife Sandra Goff; and is survived by his sisters, Joan (William) Malone, Janet (Shorty) Kolb and brothers, James (Noreen) Morris, Robert (Chrissy) Morris; Daughter, Kelly (Jeffery) Nusbaum, and sons David Joseph Morris III, and Kerrie Morris. He is also survived by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; grandson Jeffery (Alissa) Trossbach, great-grand daughter Cali; granddaughter Jody (Kyle) Bulson, great-grandchildren Foster and Ella; grandson Justin Nusbaum; granddaughter Johanna Nusbaum; granddaughter Jalynne Morris and granddaughter Delana Morris. He never really retired, driving was what he loved most, he was an owner-operator his entire life and took pride in each truck he owned and the amount of miles logged over the years. His stories of life on the road were never ending and he took some thrill in being a little bit of an “outlaw”. He was widely known as a person you weren't to mess with and if you dared even to look at his children wrong you would feel the wrath. He loved his family fiercely. He mellowed over the years though, so the grandchildren and great-grandchildren never saw that wild side but his legacy lives on through the ones who knew him well. He was an East Schodack volunteer fire-fighter, a lifetime member of the Nassau Sportsman Club and a member of the Stephentown Rod and Gun Club and an avid Republican and gun rights advocate. He and Sandra would shoot trap and skeet most weekends and they enjoyed fishing together, they also really enjoyed driving around to see family on the weekend, just "checking in" as he would say. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. in Nassau on Tuesday evening from 4-7PM. Funeral service will be private due to COVID-19 capacity restrictions. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society, 3 Oakland Avenue, Menands, NY 12204.
