Richard Leavenworth Jr. 77 of West Lebanon passed away at the Hospice Inn in St. Peter’s Hospital on June 28, 2021. Born in Pittsfield MA, he was the son of the late Richard and Alice Leavenworth. Richard was a self-employed carpenter who took on many projects including building his own house and his latest project, his son’s house. He worked on many additions and performed many remodels. He was known for his attention to detail and his work was meticulous. Richard was always willing to lend a hand and if you couldn’t fix it, he would dive right in and work until the job was completed. He served his country in the Army Reserves from 1965-1971 during the Vietnam War. He loved the woods, was an avid hunter and enjoyed hiking, especially the Taconic Crest Trail. Richard is survived by his loving wife Patricia with whom he just celebrated their 55yr wedding anniversary; son, Stephen (Christine) Leavenworth of Rockville Centre, L.I.; daughter, Lisa (Gene) Collen of Glenmont; sister, Patricia (George) Decker of Pittsfield MA; brothers in law, Jim (Nancy) Wagstaff and Ray Laurin; grandchildren Tyler, Griffin, Cassie, Sean, Meaghan, and Brendan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and several close friends. Funeral services will be private per Richard’s wishes. Donations in his memory may be made to the Community Hospice Gift Processing Center, 310 S. Manning Blvd. Albany, NY 12208.
