William Carney McLean, 84, died December 19, 2011 at the Vermont Veterans' Home in Bennington. Born in Albany Bill was the son of the late Clifford T. and Esther A. (Carney) McLean. He spent most of his life living in Hampton Manor (Rensselaer), Nassau, and Averill Park. Bill attended Christian Brothers Academy for 9th through 11th grades and Columbia High School for grade 12. Bill was trained to repair aircraft as an aviation metalsmith at the Naval Air Technical Training Center. He was a United States Navy Veteran of WW II receiving an honorable discharge and earning the Victory Medal, American Theatre Medal and Asiatic-Pacific Medal. After being discharged from the service Bill earned a certification as a boiler stationery engineer. His work history includes; Bond Clothes, electrical inspector for American Locomotive (his favorite job), car salesman at Albany Spring Service, construction and installation of elevators at Otis Elevators, salesman and product merchandiser for Ehler's, industrial electrician at Fort Orange Paper Company as well as General Aniline, and construction electrician for International Union of Electrical Workers Local 724. He worked odd jobs as an electrician before his retirement and odd jobs during his retirement years. Bill and his wife traveled for several years within the country, mostly in the southern states including NC, SC, FL, TN, CA, TX, and LA. He enjoyed visiting friends and relatives, and reading and watching TV about news, weather, history, science and real life events.

Bill is predeceased by his wife, Janet M. Kunz, a daughter, Donna M. McLean; brothers, James, Gordon, John, Paul, Robert, and Clifford McLean, and a sister Caroline Brunk. He is survived by a daughter, Stephanie J. Sicko of Averill Park; son, William (Norma) C. McLean, Jr. of Syracuse; four grandchildren, Jessica Ginter of Nassau, Adam (Syna) Sicko of Jamaica VT, Aaron (Chrissy) McLean of Raleigh, NC, and Tonya (Eric Olson) McLean of Raleigh NC; six great grandchildren, Brigette, Eryn Kay, Aleciah, Alexander, Isaac, and Rylie. Bill is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm St. Nassau on Friday December 23, at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are invited to call at the funeral home Thursday December 22, from 5-7pm. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
