Brown (Berrios), Barbara of Castleton, passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 1, 2012, after a brief illness. Born in Albany, she was the daughter of the late Margaret Palmisano (Pelton), and the late Edward Brown. She retired from Blue Cross/Blue Shield, and was a volunteer at Simply Accounting & Bookkeeping Services, LLC. She was a Girl Scout Leader, former member of the Nassau American Legion Auxiliary, member of the Pinnacle Club at the YMCA and founder of the "Queen B's". She will be remembered for her love to play scrabble, cards, and games with her children, grandchildren, and friends and for her love for reading.

She was the beloved mother of Bridget Chandler (Christopher) of Nassau, Michele Sheldon (Paul) of Nassau, Joseph Berrios (Colleen) of East Greenbush, Michael Berrios (Paula Bender) of Rotterdam, and Nicole Berrios-Myers (Anthony Paonessa) of Guilderland, Anthony Berrios (Audrey) of Chatham and dear friend of Mickey Myers of Colonie. She had 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren which she cherished and several nephews and nieces. She is also survived by her brother, Howard Brown. She was predeceased by her granddaughter Candice Berrios, brother Weezer Brown, and sister Joan Brown, as well as her beloved cats Blanc and Cuppie.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate her life at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home 11 Elm St. Nassau, Friday, February 3, 2012 from 4pm-8pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 10am at St. Mary's Church, 26 Church St., Nassau where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Interment in the Mountain View Cemetery in Castleton to follow.
