Irene M. Smead

Irene M. "Sissy" Smead, 92, of New Lebanon, NY passed away peacefully on April 9, 2023 at Albany Medical Center. She was born in Pittsfield Mass. on May 31, 1930 to the late James and Mary (Gwara) O'Boyle. Irene was a St. Joseph's High School class of 1948 Graduate. She was a substitute teacher for many years in the Pittsfield Public School system and worked at the YMCA as well. Irene was a jokester and always put a smile on everyones face.

Irene was predeceased by her husband Clifford "Smitty" Smead, her sister, Elizabeth Lanphear and her brother James "speck" O'Boyle. She is survived by her sons James Knowlton of Texas, Bruce and David Knowlton of Pittsfield, Mass and Clifford J. (Carmella) Smead of Pittsfield Mass.; daughters, Maryann Kipp of Texas and Regina (Jerry) Drake of New Lebanon, NY. as well as 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

The burial will be private and a celebration of life will be held at later date.
